Meet Bella Myers
Trainee Receptionist
What is your favourite part of working at Precision Taxation Accounting & Management?
My favourite part about working at Precision would have to be the work environment in the office. Every member of the staff at Precision are approachable and reassuring, which really helps in feeling like an appreciated and valuable employee.
What are you most excited about in your current role at the firm?
I’m excited to expand my knowledge and gain confidence in an accounting environment. Everyone in the Precision office is always willing to help answer any questions, and are open to teaching me anything that I am interested in learning or gaining experience in.
What is your favourite quote or motto, and why?
I’ve always been a pretty big believer in the saying ”Everything happens for a reason”. I know it sounds a little cheesy but I find that it can really help to keep a positive outlook, even in tough situations. I think it also helps with not being too self-criticizing, because every mistake can be a learning point.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of accounting?
I mostly spend my time outside of work training at the gym, and when I’m not at the gym I enjoy painting and reading. If it’s ever a long weekend or the opportunity is there, a spontaneous camping trip is always a top choice. My favourite place to go camping would have to be anywhere within walking distance to the beach.
What is your favourite travel destination and why?
Anywhere new. I don’t think I could pick just one destination as my favourite but I do have a rather extensive list of places that I wish to visit. My dream travel destination would have to be Japan, it’s probably been at the top of my list since I was a kid.
Do you have any pets? Tell us about them.
Some people may have quite a shock when they ask if I have any pets. My usual answer may be something along the lines of “Yeah, I have a few pets.”. But to some this may sound far from the truth. At home I have 4 dogs, 2 cats, a few sheep, chickens, ducks, and 3 snakes (my parents might say they aren’t big fans of these ones…).
How do you foster accuracy and attention to detail in your work?
Maintaining a routine in processes helps a great deal in ensuring accuracy and quality of work. Checking and double-checking work, even if its a task that you have completed a hundred times over, you never know when you might make a mistake. Also not prioritizing speed over the accuracy of work, and learning from errors and using them as opportunities to improve.
What is the best advice you have ever received from a friend or family member?
“Don’t half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing”. Sometimes you can find yourself trying to do too much at once, then things start to be complete at only 50% of what you are really capable of. It can be hard sometimes but try to prioritise what is more important in life, and say no to what is less important at that point in time. That way the outcome is far more rewarding than doing multiple tasks to a fraction of your capability.
What is your favourite sport or physical activity?
My favourite physical activity would have to be training at the gym, especially when you find a gym with a great culture. It’s a great way to meet new people and constantly learn from others. It can be a great tool for releasing any stressors, and I find myself almost always leaving the gym feeling better than what I did when I walked in.
If you could learn any new skill or hobby, what would it be?
One skill that I have always wanted to learn is Astrophotography. Photography has always been a small side hobby that I have had, and hopefully one day I will be able to learn more about Astrophotography in particular.
