What do you value most in life?
I value my family the most. It may sound cliché, but it is true. As I have grown, I have learnt the importance of cherishing their presence and dedicating time to them, regardless of life’s busyness. It is so vital to have that work-life balance!.
How do you spend your free time?
I spend most of my free time at the gym on most days. On other days, I love going to the beach and just spending time away from everything, especially screens. It allows me to pause and not worry about anything like university or work.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in accounting?
Accounting seems like it could be a lot of pressure and a little overwhelming, but it gets better as you progress through university and start understanding the accounting world. It also isn’t as dull as people make it seem because of the variety of tasks you have to complete and the diversity of clients.
What do you enjoy most about working at Precision Taxation Accounting & Management?
The team environment is what I enjoy the most, along with everyone’s helpful nature. Another thing that I appreciate is that I feel comfortable asking questions without hesitation, knowing that I won’t be judged for asking for help or seeking clarification.
What do you believe are the most important qualities for success in the accounting profession?
The essential quality for success in accounting is honesty; It applies to both oneself while completing tasks and to clients when delivering unfavourable outcomes. Another crucial quality is time management. It is important to prioritise tasks based on their importance and allocate the right amount of time to each task.
What inspired you to pursue a career in accounting?
I have always had a fondness for numbers and a love for mathematics, particularly doing calculations during my high school years. Additionally, I found economics quite enjoyable, and accounting is a perfect combination of both fields.
Can you share a memorable experience or learning moment you’ve had as a trainee accountant?
Working at Precision, I gained valuable insights into tax planning strategies to minimise client taxes, an area often overlooked. Additionally, I discovered the advantages of using Xero for accounting and business management. My experience with Xero at Precision indeed highlighted its efficiency in simplifying tasks.
